Open shoulder stabilization in a pro football player
Shoulder dislocations in contact athletes may need open shoulder stabilization in select cases, because of the magnitude of the injury. Open stabilization in contact athletes has been shown to have a lower rate of repeat dislocation. This patient underwent open shoulder stabilization and made an excellent recovery in six months.
Endoscopic subpectoral biceps tenodesis
The procedure Dr. Seneviratne pioneered, performed through a 7mm incision with an endoscope rather than the traditional open approach.
The Latarjet procedure for recurrent shoulder dislocations
A brief overview of the Latarjet procedure for patients with recurrent shoulder instability.
PRP preparation using the Emcyte system

Bursitis of the elbow treated with arthroscopic bursectomy
A bursa is a fluid-filled sac that can become inflamed and swollen. In olecranon bursitis the inflamed bursa is removed arthroscopically. Arthroscopic elbow bursectomy is a minimally invasive technique that avoids the long healing time an open bursectomy requires.
TENEX procedure for tennis elbow
Tennis elbow is a tendon problem on the outer aspect of the elbow. Treatment ranges from physical therapy to surgery. This patient underwent a minimally invasive procedure called TENEX. A small needle with an ultrasonic tip is guided by ultrasound to the damaged tendon tissue, which is then removed. There is usually no downtime and recovery is fairly rapid.
Treatment of shoulder separation (AC joint separation)
A patient who had a shoulder separation underwent AC joint reconstruction, also called CC ligament reconstruction. Three months later he has excellent function, with correction of the separated AC joint.
Back to work in six weeks after robotic assisted total knee replacement
Robotic knee replacement offers the advantage of minimising surgical trauma. The implant is positioned to a precision of less than 1mm on a computer screen before a single incision is made. Once Dr. Seneviratne is satisfied with the implant position, the robot makes precise cuts in the bone, allowing implantation with less surgical trauma, a faster recovery and an earlier return to daily activity and work. Note that this is anecdotal; research studies are ongoing to define the merits of robotic assisted knee surgery.
Left partial knee replacement for single compartment osteoarthritis
Robotic assisted partial knee replacement offers a rapid recovery with an early return to function.
Stem cells and rotator cuff healing, featured on CBS News
Dr. Seneviratne featured on CBS News for his work on the use of stem cells to enhance rotator cuff healing. See how the treatment worked for a patient who underwent rotator cuff repair in both shoulders.
